Mike Nocita
Director of Human Relations
Mike Nocita’s experience focuses on managing different human systems in different settings. After studying philosophy and ethics he became a teacher and coach, eventually becoming principal at two different private schools. Both schools emerged better after a short period of time due to his educational philosophy, which devoted time and effort to excellence in staff and student body rather than just surviving with the status quo. During this time he frequently appeared on local radio and television programs discussing youth issues and ethics and was also a reserve on the Los Angeles Police Department for 12 Years. Leaving formal education management he worked in the nonprofit sector, notably as Executive Director of a Robert Wood Johnson grant program for the Santa Barbara Council on Drug Abuse and Alcohol Abuse coordinating services for different populations in Santa Barbara County. He moved into the private sector as a security manager for Consolidated Smart Systems, which provided apartment house coin and smart card laundry service throughout Southern California. After being promoted to Operations Manager he, with the other leaders of the company, developed the systems with the 100+ employees he was responsible for that positively impacted customer service and profit. He was accepted as a partner in the business and stayed there for just under ten years. Mike was next invited to become Human Resources Director for a DIRECTV contractor and help them manage the human side of their growth from two hundred to two thousand employees. The company was purchased by DIRECTV Corporate and he moved into their Human Resources Department as a Director for the operations group with 12,000 employees. He left there to do private consulting and now spends more of his time with MBET and a fledgling interior design business. He is the father of two sons and enjoys the outdoor trips with them as well as hanging onto his old habits of reading, listening to music (mostly classical) and being with friends.
