As Managing Director of Easternlight Films, she has built up the specialty arm of Arclight Films into showcasing the largest film library of Asian-based indie films. Launched in 2005, the label includes classic titles featuring Bingbing Li, Jet Li, Wolf Warrior starring Wu Jing (which opened #1 at the Chinese Box Office, earning more than $32.5M in one weekend), Donnie Yen, and Jackie Chan as well as Dangerous Liaisons starring Ziyi Zhang, and legendary auteur Chen Kaige’s Sacrifice.
In her role at Easternlight, Ye has also been instrumental in the production of a number of the films as well as acquisitions and foreign sales. Titles produced by Ye include the upcoming powerhouse actioner Triple Threat starring breakout Chinese star Celina Jade star of Wolf Warrior 2, which has earned over $650 million at the Chinese box office and Bait 3D – which has become the most successful Australian Film in the history of Chinese cinema.
As an independent producer, Ye is currently preparing a slate of Chinese government approved co-productions and manages strong relationships with major Chinese companies including China Film Group, Wanda, and Jetsen. In 2016, Arclight Films signed a 3-picture co-production deal with Wanda, one of only three deals signed with US production companies including Lionsgate Entertainment and Legendary Films.
Outside of Easternlight, Ye’s numerous producing and executive producing credits in recent years including Paul Schrader’s critically-acclaimed First Reformed starring Ethan Hawke and Amanda Seyfried which was nominated 2019 best original screenplays at Oscar; the highly anticipated Hotel Mumbai starring Armie Hammer and Dev Patel, and a true political thriller Escape from Pretoria starring Daniel Radcliffe.
Her extensive contacts with major international stars, most prominently in China, have propelled her into commencing to launch marketing deals for products, most prominently in Asia. Miracle of the Sea is a perfect product to take advantage of Ying’s extensive network of connections. From these bases, Ye has established and expanded real estate investments in Australia, Canada, China and US.
